Residential Address Change

You may qualify for a special enrollment period (SEP) if you moved to a new residential address in Minnesota and all of the following are true:

  • You had qualified health plan coverage for at least one day in the 60 days before your move.
  • You made a permanent move to a new ZIP code or county within Minnesota that gives you access to new plan options.
  • You have already moved. You cannot report this change until you move.

Making a temporary move or a move for purposes of receiving medical treatment will not qualify for a SEP.

Key Dates

  • 60-day SEP begins: Date of move.
  • When you can enroll: During the 60-day window of your SEP, after we verify your qualifying life event.
  • When your coverage starts: The first day of the month after your plan selection date.

Verification Documents

When you apply, the system will tell you what documents you must upload.

Be prepared to upload documents to show:

  • You made a permanent move within Minnesota in the past 60 days
  • You had health care coverage before the move

Don’t wait—MNsure must receive your documents and have time to process them before you can pick a plan. You must select a plan before your 60-day SEP window expires.
