How MNsure uses immigration information

Lawfully Present Immigrants

If you select lawfully present on the application, you will need to choose an immigration status. You may need to provide documents to verify your status.
- American Indian born in Canada (289 INA)
- Amerasian noncitizen
- Asylee
- Battered noncitizen
- Conditional Entrant
- Cuban/Haitian entrant
- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
- Deportation being withheld under 243(h) of INA or 231(b)(3) of INA
- Lawful permanent resident (LPR)
- Paroled for at least one year
- Refugee
- Special Iraqi/Afghani immigrant
- Victim of severe trafficking (LPR or T Visa)
- Withholding of removal
- Temporary nonimmigrant
- Other

You may need one or more documents from the list below:

We may ask you for a copy of one or more of the following documents and the date you entered the U.S.
- DS2019 (certification of eligibility for exchange visitor (J-1) status)
- I-20 (certificate of eligibility for nonimmigrant (F-1) student status)
- I-327 (reentry permit)
- I-551 (permanent resident card or "Green Card")
- I-571 (refugee travel document)
- I-766 (employment authorization card)
- I-94 (arrival/departure record)
- I-94 (arrival/departure record) in unexpired foreign passport
- Machine readable immigrant visa with temporary/I-551 language
- Temporary I-551 stamp in unexpired foreign passport
- Other (Must provide the document title). Examples of other document types include:
  - Office of Refugee Resettlement
  - Document indicating withholding of removal
  - Administrative order staying removal issued by the Department of Homeland Security
  - Form I-360 Prima Facie Determinations

How MNsure uses immigration information

MNsure only collects information about your immigration status to determine your health insurance eligibility. This information is only shared as allowed by law, such as to verify identity.

If we can’t verify your immigration status, we may ask you to provide additional information.
